HEdA accreditation guidelines adopted
The Swiss Higher Education Conference approved the accreditation guidelines pursuant to HEdA at its meeting on 28 May 2015. All the legal foundations for institutional accreditation are thus in place.
In December 2012 the State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) had commissioned the OAQ to set up a working group to draw up a draft of the accreditation guidelines pursuant to HEdA by the end of 2014 that took all interest groups into account. The members of the working group represented all university types and profiles, all relevant groups of university affiliates, social partners and the world of work. By 19 December 2014 the working group led by the OAQ had approved the draft for the accreditation guidelines pursuant to HEdA, including commentary, and duly submitted them to the SERI.
The accreditation guidelines specify the requirements for institutional accreditation pursuant to Article 30 HEdA and for programme accreditation pursuant to Article 31 HEdA and include the applicable quality standards. They also define the accreditation procedure (Article 32 HEdA).
The Higher Education Conference approved the guidelines at its meeting on 28 May 2015. These come into force with effect from 1 July 2015. All the prerequisites for institutional accreditation are thus now created.
