Quality Audit
Quality audits are procedures that focus on the internal quality assurance systems in higher education institutions. Quality audits were carried out in Switzerland in a four-year cycle between 2004 and 2014 until the introduction of the Federal Act on Funding and Coordination of the Higher Education Sector (HEdA). Quality audits at Swiss HEIs have been replaced by institutional accreditation under the HEdA.
The AAQ conducts Quality Audits in Austria. They are based on the Austrian Higher Education Quality Assurance Act (HS-QSG), which provides for Austrian higher education institutions to have their quality management systems regularly certified by an external body.
Based on the Quality Audit, the AAQ Commission decides on the certification of the quality management system in accordance with the HS-QSG. If the certification decision is positive, the AAQ awards the higher education institution the corresponding quality seal.
Universities certified by the AAQ Commission in accordance with the HS-QSG:
- Universität Wien: 2015–2022 and 2022–2029
- Technische Universität Wien: 2016–2023 and 2023–2030
- Universität Innsbruck: 2014–2021 and 2021–2028
- Johannes Kepler Universität Linz: 2018–2025 and 2025–2032
- Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Graz: 2018–2025
- Montanuniversität Leoben: 2015–2022 and 2022–2029
