Quality audits were carried out in Switzerland in a four-year cycle between 2004 and 2014 until the introduction of the Federal Act on Funding and Coordination of the Higher Education Sector (<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">HEdA<\/span>). Quality audits at Swiss HEIs have been replaced by institutional accreditation under the HEdA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The AAQ conducts Quality Audits in Austria. They are based on the Austrian Higher Education Quality Assurance Act (HS-QSG), which provides for Austrian higher education institutions to have their quality management systems regularly certified by an external body.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Based on the Quality Audit, the <a href=\"https:\/\/aaq.ch\/en\/the-aaq\/organisation-bis\/\">AAQ Commission<\/a> decides on the certification of the quality management system in accordance with the HS-QSG.
