SUC decisions November 2014: STH and VMI course accredited

The final decisions taken by the Swiss University Conference (SUC) in 2014 awarded accreditations to the Staatsunabhängige Theologische Hochschule (STH Basel) and the EMBA in NPO management of the VMI (Verbands-, Stiftungs- und Genossenschaftsmanagement) of the University of Fribourg.

STH Basel is a private theological college. After several years of preparation, it had submitted an application to the OAQ for accreditation as an academic institution in April 2014. On the basis of the documents submitted and discussions held on site, the group of experts came to the conclusion that STH Basel fulfilled the quality standards in principle. In response to a request from the OAQ, the SUC awarded accreditation, whereby the conditions will be reviewed after 1.5 years. The bachelor's and master's degree courses run by STH Basel were accredited at the same time.

The VMI is affiliated to the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Fribourg. Its course of study leading to an EMBA in NPO management had already been accredited in 2007. The VMI submitted another application when its accreditation was due to expire. The OAQ opened a procedure at the beginning of 2014 and paid a visit to the premises in June. The positive ruling by the SUC certifies that the course complies with quality standards pursuant to article 10 of the accreditation guidelines and specific standards for courses of further education.
